When searching for a panacea in dental implant therapy, committing to a single treatment method would set any clinician up for failure, as it leads to repeating the same mistakes with increasing confidence. The range of treatment options for tooth replacement in the maxillary anterior region appears endless. For this reason, a complete overview of all possible solutions for repairing or replacing teeth in this region is not feasible.
In much the same way that law students do not learn their profession by memorizing lists of statutes, casebooks are used to encourage exploration. Law, in all its ambiguity, is rarely a static set of rules; rather, it is a constantly evolving system of principles. Casebooks, however, contain neither instructions nor explanations. A deeper understanding emerges from the critical examination of a series of cases that have been decided according to these principles. All implant strategies should take minimally invasive surgery as their starting point, since it can result in less pain, scarring, and damage to healthy tissue, as well as faster recovery than traditional surgery. Partially extracting or submerging roots may help prevent ridge collapse. Because no two cases are alike, this book demonstrates, through incremental steps, that more invasive measures cannot always be avoided, depending on the need for bone and soft tissue grafts.
Instead of producing a heavy coffee-table book that eventually ends up on a shelf, the aim was to create a folioscope or flipbook filled with time-lapse photography that is hopefully a pleasure to hold.

Paul Sipos works as a periodontist and implant dentist at the Center for Implantology and Periodontology, Amstelveen, The Netherlands. His dental office maintains a SPSS database with over 17,000 implant treatments. He started his career as a dentist and periodontist for the Royal Netherlands Navy Dental Services and received periodontal training at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). Paul Sipos has held the positions of chairman of the Dutch Society of Periodontology (NVvP), has published and co-authored several articles on periodontal- and implant-related subjects, and lectures at international conferences. His special interest lies in the field of microsurgery, hard and soft tissue maintenance, and prosthetic reconstruction.
Andreas Nolte - Germany, Münster
Andreas Nolte completed his training as a dental technician in Lübbecke, Germany, and subsequently worked in various laboratories. After traveling domestically and abroad in 2001 and 2002, he founded his own company, Enamelum et Dentinum, in Münster, Germany, in 2002. Since2004, he has been operating his own laboratory and training center in the heart of Münster. His passion is primarily focused on ceramic restorations on natural teeth and implants. He collaborates closely with the dental industry as a developer, which has led to the creation of, among other things, the Color and Texture System DD Contrast. Andreas Nolte is the author of several articles published in Quintessenz Zahntechnik, Teamwork, Dental Labor, and Dental Dialogue. In addition, he has been active as an international speaker since 2000. He is a member of the advisory board for Quintessenz Zahntechnik and Dental Dialogue. Furthermore, he has been a member of Group 65 for several years.
